Cambridge Police Department Participates in Domestic Violence Awareness Month Vigil
CPD participated in the City of Cambridge’s candlelight vigil on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. outside City Hall. The annual vigil honors the Massachusetts women, men, and children who have tragically lost their lives to domestic violence since last October. Local domestic violence prevention agencies will have resources for survivors and information for the community on how to recognize and talk about domestic violence.

In 2022, Cambridge Police Department began a complete review and re-write of its policies, procedures, rules, and regulations through the lens of procedural justice. The Department committed to a multi-year process to seek accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). This accreditation is considered the gold standard in law enforcement and mirrors the department’s mission of procedurally just policing.

Furniture for the O’Connell Library
The furniture at the O’Connell library is quite worn down. This proposal would provide the library with new tables, chairs, computer workstations, and loveseats for parents and children to read together.
Waste Management Educational Campaign
Leverage local artists to develop an educational campaign about proper disposal of recyclables, trash and compost. This approach will decrease waste, reduce recycling/compost contamination and reduce rats by improving sanitation.
