The Cambridge Office of Early Childhood (OEC) works to develop an easily accessed, aligned and coherent system of affordable high-quality education and care that begins with prenatal care and extends through third grade in Cambridge. OEC also oversees the Cambridge Preschool Program, which provides access to free preschool for all Cambridge 4-year-olds.

 The City of Cambridge announced that it is offering a $75 debit card to people who live or work in Cambridge who get vaccinated for COVID-19 (first dose, second dose, or booster) at the city-sponsored clinic on Thursday, December 15, from 4-8 p.m., at CambridgeSide, 100 Cambridgesideplace.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will reconstruct sidewalks and begin resurfacing Route 28 in Cambridge (McGrath Highway and Monsignor O’Brien Highway). Work will include late-night/early morning detours for traffic heading north between Third Street and Broadway.

The new Metro North COVID-19 Vaccination Partnership -- a consortium of nine cities, Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), and Tufts University -- announced today that it will open three joint vaccination sites to expand COVID-19 vaccine access in the metro north area. The regional partnership was recently approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as a part of its statewide network of vaccination locations.

You’re invited to our November Brewery Book Club, where Lamplighter and the Cambridge Public Library team up to highlight contemporary works from marginalized voices while having a beer. We meet at Lamplighter Brewing Co., 284 Broadway, in the back taproom. This month we’ll read We Will be Jaguars: A Memoir of My People by Nemonte Nenquimo. September Selection: What Goes with What by Julia Turshen. Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! Try a recipe and bring your results or thoughts to share and discuss with other cooks. All experience levels welcome. No need to bring a dish to join. Books will be available for pick up at the Boudreau and Collins Branches during library hours. Are you curious about poop? This program goes down the sewer, out into space, deep under the sea and back to the time of the dinosaurs to explore what happens to all of our poop. Susie Maguire at The Poop Museum is a poop expert who thinks poop is THE most interesting subject in the world. She has studied poop for years and loves nothing more than sharing her expansive knowledge of poop. Recommended for children ages 5-10 years old and their caregivers.

The newly structured Family and Social Justice Section brings together certain operational units to provide specific services to members of the community who would be better served through a “social justice approach” than what could be afforded to them through conventional criminal justice approaches.
