Over the summer the Cambridge Police Department welcomed our newest Cadet, Samantha Ayala. The CPD is also pleased to announce that our 2025 Cadet Exam will be held on Saturday, November 15th.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is partnering with local businesses to host free COVID-19 vaccination clinics during school vacation week, April 18-22, at a variety of family-friendly venues.

This event was rescheduled from May 22 and will now take place on May 28. The new king Charles II sent royal commissioners to New England in 1664 in order to pressure colonists into compliance with his metropolitan agenda. When these royal commissioners tried to claim full authority over local courts and militias, Cambridge inhabitants were among the first to act in defiance. Their grassroots petition campaign drew on the experience of the English civil wars and pointed the way forward to the American Revolution. Adrian Chastain Weimer is a Professor of History at Providence College and is currently a Long-term Fellow at the John Carter Brown Library. She is the author of A Constitutional Culture: New England and the Struggle against Arbitrary Rule in the Restoration Empire (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2023) and Martyrs' Mirror: Persecution and Holiness in Early New England (Oxford University Press, 2011).

A booster shot is an extra dose of a vaccine that can help 'boost' the immune system to better protect against disease. COVID-19 vaccines work very well to protect against serious illness and death. However, protection against more moderate disease may decrease over time. Recent research shows that a Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot strengthens the immune response in people who had had their second Pfizer shot at least 6 months earlier.

Everyone in town wants to be the next pie contest champion, and it's up to Alice and her friends to solve the mystery of the recipe and discover the not-so-secret recipe for happiness. Copies of this month's book are available at the Children's Desk. Both caregiver and child should read the book before the discussion to participate. Walk-in access by the public is available Monday through Friday during regular City business hours (Monday, 8:30am-8pm, Tuesday-Thursday, 8:30am-5pm, and Friday, 8:30am-12pm), and in-person public appointments continue to be offered by many departments.
