In partnership with Emerald City Plant Shop, you will have the opportunity to learn more about different kind of plants and plant care. This event will be conducted in the front park area of the Library. In the case of rain, the class will be moved to the Rossi room. The Library will provide all needed supplies. There will be 2 timed sessions. Please make sure to choose the time that works best for you.

DPW Celebrates 5 Years of Citywide Curbside Compost Program
This Spring marks the five-year anniversary of the citywide curbside compost program. Since 2018, Cambridge residents have diverted more than 6,500 tons of food waste from the trash. To celebrate, the Department of Public Works Recycle Division has announced a new food waste drop-off waste site located across from 10 Education Circle in the Cambridge Crossing part of East Cambridge. Any resident may use this drop-off location to dispose of their food waste.
78-80 Porter Road
In 2009, the Cambridge Housing authority (CHA) through its Cambridge Affordable Housing Corporation (CAHC) purchased a 26-unit rental property in Porter Square, also known as 78-80 Porter Road, with the financial assistance from the Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust. Additional financing was used to significantly renovate the property and convert the mostly market-rate housing units into affordable housing rented out to income-eligible residents. In the process of updating and replacing old systems, the CHA was able to maintain and restore historically significant elements of the building.
2015 Site Monitoring Report
Highlights include: a proposed wet meadow restoration project in Weston, ongoing construction and improvements along Route 2 and 128 that will result in 5 new stormwater treatment and spill containment basins, improvements to 8 existing basins along Route 128, and the creation of vegetated swales in the Route 2 median.
