Originally established in 1997 as the Neighborhood Sergeant Program, the Cambridge Police Neighborhood Engagement Program seeks to directly connect community members with the police supervisors who are the liaisons to their neighborhood.

The Cambridge Council on Aging partners with Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) to offer hot, nutritious lunch meals to Cambridge residents ages 60 and older. Changes in funding allocation will impact the lunch meal program beginning April 1.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) asks residents and businesses to help us collect leaves from sidewalks, streets and storm drains. Collecting leaves from the street helps our local and global environment by protecting our local ecosystem and fighting climate change.

The recipient of the Southern Historical Association’s Charles S. Sydnor Award for the best book in Southern history in 2022, Milteer will be joined in conversation by Susan Tomlinson, an associate professor of English at the University of Massachusetts Boston. The deadline to apply for the next Civil Service exam to become a Cambridge Police Officer has been announced. The deadline to apply for the exam is January 17, 2023. Late applications, which would result in an additional $50 fee, will be accepted until January 31, 2023. In advance of the application deadline, the Cambridge Police will host a series of recruiting information sessions.
