Youth Center Programs
The Cambridge Youth Programs offer diverse, high quality programs that promote leadership and youth development through enrichment activities, unique experiences, and opportunities to develop relationships with adults and peers.
28-30 Wendell Street
Homeowner's Rehab, Inc. (HRI), a local non-profit affordable housing provider, purchased 30 Wendell Street, a current tennis court, from Lesley University in November 2023. Located in the Baldwin neighborhood, the site is in close proximity to the amenities of the Massachusetts Avenue corridor, including shops, restaurants, and public transportation.
HRI is planning to create new affordable rental housing on the property under the provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO).
Peabody School Playground Improvements
The Peabody School in North Cambridge will undergo a playground improvement project guided by the City's ongoing commitment to the goals of the Healthy Parks and Playgrounds Initiative.
Creative Marketplace
Cambridge Arts: Creative Marketplace engages three programs to boost the visibility of the arts and drive economic activity: Community Supported Art, Cambridge Arts Challenge, and Creative Marketplace: Exhibitions.
Joint Statement from the CPD and Cambridge Public Schools Involving Firearm Discharge Investigation
At approximately 1:45 this afternoon a Cambridge Police Department Youth Resource Officer assigned to Cambridge Rindge and Latin School accidentally discharged their firearm while using a staff bathroom inside the school. There were no injuries. The officer immediately notified department supervisors and the school administration. CPD then responded to the scene and are currently investigating. The school day was not disrupted and there were no other injuries.
The Summer Heats Up with Cambridge Plays
Come outside and play as warm weather arrives. The Community Development Department (CDD) partners with local businesses and organizations to sponsor free events in squares and neighborhoods across the city.
