We invite children of all ages and their grown-ups to join us for stories and a simple activity. This month we will draw with chalk outside the Library! (weather permitting)

The Small Business COVID-19 Recovery Grant Program is a complementary grant program to the city’s Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant. It is a special program helping Cambridge’s U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) eligible for-profit retail, food, personal services, and creative businesses with a grant up to $10,000 per brick and mortar business. The program provides short-term working capital assistance to support businesses with inventory purchases (perishable and non-perishable), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) purchases or upgrades, and rent payments to enable businesses to open and ensure the retention of jobs after the severe interruption of business related to COVID-19 social distancing requirements.

Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) can play a critical role in a safer outcome for all. CIT programs redirect individuals with mental illness away from the criminal justice system and into health care systems.

The climate is changing, and we're all here on the planet together. Join us for a monthly community gathering and discussion of a variety of books about climate change. We will share thoughts, resources, and occasionally host special guests in a welcoming small-group environment. For our April meeting, we will discuss Here comes the sun: a last chance for the climate and a fresh chance for civilization by Bill McKibben. Copies of the print book are available at the Main Library Q&A Desk. The e-book is available on the Libby app and the e-audiobook is available immediately on the Hoopla app. This is a hybrid event. To mark the 250th anniversaries of the American Revolution and the founding of the United States, a coalition of local non-profits and government agencies will present Washington in American Memory, a seven-part speaker series. Trace how diplomacy, collaboration, and conflict shaped the early republic through Washington’s relationships with Native people, featuring: Colin Gordon Calloway, author of The Indian World of George Washington: The First President, the First Americans, and the Birth of the Nation and the John Kimball, Jr. 1943 Professor of History and Professor of Native American Studies at Dartmouth College Kabl Wilkerson, enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation (Bourassa & Muller families; Bear Clan) and doctoral candidate in the History Department at Harvard University

Bring a dish to share, or just come to talk about your experience with a chosen cookbook. No need to bring a dish to join. Visit Valente for a selection of cookbooks that are ready to check out. Our monthly Middle Grade Mystery book group is for kids aged 10-14. Check out a copy of the book beforehand, or download it from the Libby app. Our April book is Howliday Inn by James Howe.
