The City of Cambridge launched the 10th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting and collected over 1,100 ideas from the community between September 11 – October 9, 2023, about how to spend $2 million on projects to improve Cambridge.

Celebrate the breathtaking art of Xiang Li, featuring over a dozen selected canvas portraits of Chinese empresses. Meet the artist Xiang Li and her daughter Fei Wu (the mother-daughter team) in person, hear their artist talk and presentation, and enjoy a relaxed and engaging conversation. Ask questions, connect, and discover the stories behind the art. Light refreshments will be provided.

Join local artist Brooke Lambert for an introduction to painting with watercolor. Learn at your own pace to paint still life in a relaxed and welcoming environment. This class will introduce techniques in color mixing, observational painting and composition. You will come away from this class with beautiful watercolor paintings and a greater understanding and appreciation for the medium of watercolor. This class is for adults with all levels of experiences and will cover wet on wet and wet on dry techniques, masking, pressing, shading and light techniques, ink washes and pattern making. Registration is required.

Join Central Square's cookbook club! This month, we're cooking from In Bibi's Kitchen: The Recipes and Stories of Grandmothers from the Eight African Countries that Touch the Indian Ocean by Hawa Hassan. Calling all middle grade readers! Meet up in the Curious George Room every third Thursday to eat pizza and talk about books with your friends. This month's book is Plain Jane and the Mermaid. Snacks are provided. This group is for ages 10-12. Participants should read the book ahead of this month’s meeting. Registration is required.
