Cookbook Club (Boudreau)
August Selections: Tomato Love, You Say Tomato, & Simply Tomato Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! Try a recipe and bring your results or thoughts to share and discuss with other cooks. Central House
The YMCA sold the Central House, a 128-unit SRO facility for men, to Caritas Communities. The property was rehabbed and improved.
Food Truck or Trailer Inspection Permit
The City of Cambridge requires all vending trucks, canteens or food service vehicles which utilize fuel for cooking to be permitted.
78-80 Porter Road
In 2009, the Cambridge Housing authority (CHA) through its Cambridge Affordable Housing Corporation (CAHC) purchased a 26-unit rental property in Porter Square, also known as 78-80 Porter Road, with the financial assistance from the Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust. Additional financing was used to significantly renovate the property and convert the mostly market-rate housing units into affordable housing rented out to income-eligible residents. In the process of updating and replacing old systems, the CHA was able to maintain and restore historically significant elements of the building.
Yard Waste Pick Up
The City offers free weekly collection of yard waste, April 1-December 31 for residents with recycling collection from the City. Yard waste is banned from landfills and incinerators in Massachusetts. Leaves and other yard waste that fall on your property should be gathered as needed. Leaves and twigs on sidewalks and curbs adjacent to your property are the responsibility of the property owner to collect and set out as yard waste.
Registration Open for Shoot Straight Youth Winter Basketball League
The 10-week instructional league is open to Cambridge youth in grades 3-6 and focuses on skills, team play, and sportsmanship.
911 Clinician
The City of Cambridge 911 Clinician is a unique public safety position, as they work directly inside the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) alongside Emergency Telecommunications Dispatchers (ETD). The 911 Clinician may be utilized by dispatchers during emergencies for purposes of crisis intervention/de-escalation or to support callers through vulnerable moments before first responders arrive on-scene when appropriate. A large part of the 911 Clinician’s role is also following up with and providing community members connections to mental health and corresponding services by making referrals, providing resources, facilitating screenings, offering support and advocacy, and short-term case management.
