Join us for a beginner-friendly counted cross stitch class for adults at O'Neill! Learn the basics of cross stitching while working on a cute raccoon pattern. All materials provided – no experience needed! You'll leave with materials and a pattern to finish your cross stitch piece after class. Registration required.

Join Revolution 250, Boston Celebrations, Hobby Knolls Stables & the Henry Knox Artillery as wells as citizens of the towns of Weston, Waltham, Watertown, and Cambridge for a commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the epic 1776 adventure of Henry Knox and his "Noble Train of Artillery" trekking across Massachusetts on their way to Boston. The commemoration at 2:00 p.m. follows a procession from the Cambridge Common at 1:00 p.m. that will travel to Joan Lorentz park led by the Sudbury Ancient Fyfe & Drum Corps and finishing with teams of Clydesdales pulling replica sleds and cannons which began their journey in upstate New York.

All ages are welcome to join us as we observe birds at Fresh Pond. We will look for birds migrating to or through our area as well as year-round resident birds. As we walk we will discuss general birdwatching tips and learn more about the birds we share our outdoor spaces with. A limited supply of binoculars will be available. Registration is required for this event. Join us at the Central Square Branch Library, or virtually, for a midday-lunch break book group discussion. This book group will be rotating Mystery/Thriller and Science Fiction works. Come spend the afternoon getting deeply acquainted with May's Herb of the Month - the plantain! We’ll spend time getting to know the plant through drawing, taste, science, and stories of herbalists’ experience. Bring your journal and leave with an in-depth account of botany, history, use, safety issues, preparation and dosage, and much much more. The group will meet at the Collins Library (64 Aberdeen Ave) and walk to Fresh Pond together. This program is part of a series hosted around the area with guest herbalist, Mo Katz-Christy. Come each month to build your materia medica or just once to meet a new plant friend!

Learn the basics of beaded jewelry making and the difference between semi-precious stones and precious stones. Participants will keep all pieces they make. Space is limited to 10 participants. Led by Zangar Freeman.

Bring a kids' book or two to swap and go home with a new book for yourself! People of all ages who enjoy kids' books are welcome. Please do not bring more than one or two books. You are welcome to take home a book even if you did not bring one. Contributions will not be accepted in advance of the event.

Come to the playground in your pajamas to listen to stories, read with your children and enjoy a snack before bed! This program is recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. This summer Pajama Story Time will happen outside in the playground area at the Fresh Pond Apartments. In case of bad weather, the story time will happen inside the Community Room of 362 Rindge Ave. Pajama Story Time is presented by the Cambridge Public Library and the Center for Families.

Party like you just got your first library card! All Kindergartners, along with their families and friends, are welcome to attend. Drop in between 3:00 and 4:00 to do a craft, learn about using your new library card, and say hi to other kindergarten friends!
