PorchFest is a free, walkable, musical, community event where Cambridge residents host talented local performers on their porches (or patios, or backyards, or whatever), and attendees enjoy the music and the neighborhood.

You’re invited to our January Brewery Book Club, where Lamplighter and the Cambridge Public Library team up to highlight contemporary works from marginalized voices while having a beer. We meet at Lamplighter Brewing Co., 284 Broadway, in the back taproom. This month we’ll read The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden. Copies of the book are available at the Main Library Q&A Desk. The e-book and digital audiobook can be borrowed through the Libby app. We’ll gather in the Lamplighter back taproom to discuss the book, what we learned from it, what we found ourselves touched by, and all other thoughts. Cambridge Arts and Community Development Department are offering free workshops to support emerging artists through their professional development. The topics will include financial literacy, artistic identity, grant writing, marketing, advocacy, and wellness. Workshops will be offered online during the months of October, November, and December. We are offering this opportunity to practitioners in every form of creative expression, however, there is limited availability. We encourage local artists and practitioners from historically disempowered and oppressed communities (women, people of color, veterans, individuals who are disabled, and members of the LGBTQ+ community) to register.

Website + Constant Contact: Marketing Underway for New Affordable Housing at 52 New Street Apartments – Information Sessions on April 28 Just A Start (JAS) is holding a second lottery for up to 20 of its one- and two-bedroom affordable housing rental units at 52 New Street in Cambridge and to fill the waiting list for units as they become available. Supported with funding from the City of Cambridge and Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust, 52 New Street was the first development to be approved under the Affordable Housing Overlay. Construction is complete. Residents selected in this round will begin moving in by late June to July 2026. Applications for the remaining units are now available until May 20 at 3 p.m. Please visit here to complete the application online. A webinar designed to invest in your health, wellness, and longevity. Tailored for all caregivers - such as direct care or caring for a loved one - this session will provide advice for building resilience and managing the physical and psychosocial demands of caregiving. We'll discuss your non-negotiables, defining your vision and strategy, identifying resources, and knowing your payer partners. This event will be held online. A Zoom link will be sent to registrants one hour before the session begins.

This event is co-sponsored by the Commission on Immigrant Rights and Citizenship and the Department of Human Services Programs. We are working with Mass Hire and the African Bridge Network to provide Orientation Workshops for Foreign-Trained Professionals where recent skilled immigrants and refugees can connect with experts, peers, and career resources. These workshops will be hosted throughout the calendar year in Cambridge, Greater Boston, Worcester, Roxbury, Woburn, and North Shore.

The Warming Center is a welcoming and safe drop in center where unsheltered adults can come and spend the night and be safe from the environmental hazards of the street during the winter months.
