Curious about strength training but unsure where to begin? This welcoming, beginner-friendly program is designed to remove the uncertainty and help you build a strong, confident foundation—safely and effectively. Led by master fitness trainer, author, and motivational speaker Shaun Zetlin, this session introduces simple, practical bodyweight exercises that focus on stability, strength, and power. Participants will learn how to move with proper form, reduce the risk of injury, and incorporate efficient, effective workouts into a busy schedule—no gym required. All exercises are approachable and adaptable, with many options performed at home using minimal or no equipment. Registration is preferred not required.

Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Harvey C. Mansfield—William R. Kenan, Jr., Research Professor of Government at Harvard University and recipient of the National Humanities Medal—for a discussion of his new book, The Rise and Fall of Rational Control: The History of Modern Political Philosophy. He will be joined in conversation by Eric Nelson—Robert M. Beren Professor of Government at Harvard University. Registration is required.

Harvard Book Store, the Harvard University Division of Science, the Harvard Library, and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Dr. Anjana Khatwa—award-winning earth scientist, TV presenter, and advocate for diversity in the geosciences and nature—for a discussion of her book The Whispers of Rock: The Stories That Stone Tells About Our World and Our Lives, a 2025 New Scientist Best Book of the Year. Next week, Cambridge Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and City Manager Louis A. DePasquale will be answering your questions about COVID-19, the City’s response to the pandemic, and its impacts on the entire Cambridge community during a 30-minute show being produced by 22-Cityview. If you would like to submit a question for consideration, please complete this brief online form. Given that every question will not be able to be addressed during the 30-minute show, every question submitted will receive an email response by the end of next week.

We live in an age where we carry our smartphones everywhere we go. Built into this device is a camera that can help us document the world around us. Whether it’s taking family portraits, beautiful landscapes, or in some cases the meal we just sat down to eat, we’re all constantly taking photos. This class will not only teach you to take the best possible photos, but how to edit your photos to make them look as good as they possibly can. We will also cover how to organize the photos on your phone. We will learn how to become visual storytellers through projects I'll assign each week followed by thoughtful group discussions of your photos. You need only bring two things to this class: your smartphone and your imagination. This program will be held in the Rindge Room.
