Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process that empowers community members through civic engagement to decide how to spend part of a public budget. PB was first developed in Brazil in 1989 and is now used in over 1,500 cities around the world.

The Cambridge Council on Aging offers a Veterans and Friends Support Group. Open to Cambridge veterans ages 60 and older, the support group meets monthly at the Cambridge Senior Center. After years of research, planning, and community engagement, the City of Cambridge is preparing for new greenhouse gas emissions reduction requirements for large buildings to take effect beginning January 1. The Office of Sustainability is reaching out to property owners covered under the Building Energy Use Disclosure Ordinance (BEUDO) to help them understand and prepare for the new requirements.

Open to Cambridge Kindergarten - 5th graders.

The DGBVPI works to improve access and use of services through community partnerships. We co-facilitate the Cambridge Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and the DGBVPI Steering Committee. In these settings, organizations gain a deeper understanding of how DGBV shows up in different settings and collaborate to find ways to address it. We work to make sure the Cambridge community has, “no wrong door” for survivors seeking services or someone causing harm who wants to change their behavior.
