729-755 Concord Avenue
Homeowners Rehab, Inc. (HRI) has completed the purchase of 729-755 Concord Avenue, several contiguous parcels that together form a 48,463 square foot site along Concord Avenue in the Cambridge Highlands neighborhood. The acquisition was supported with funding from the Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust. The site is located a block from HRI’s existing 98-unit Finch Cambridge affordable development at 675 Concord Avenue, completed in 2020, and is in close proximity to all the amenities of the Alewife shopping area and the Alewife T station.It is across the street from the Fresh Pond Reservation with ample open space and walking paths. The site is expected to be redeveloped as affordable housing under the provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay.

Teen Design Your Own Graphic Novel Session 1/3 (Valente)
Learn how to visually capture your own memoir or fictional creation in a short graphic novel through story planning, character development, and techniques for capturing emotions, motion, and time. Materials provided and no prior art or author experience needed! Registration is required, and registering for this session includes the following two Tuesdays 1/20, and 1/27. This program is for ages 10-18. The City of Cambridge does not discriminate, including on the basis of disability. We may provide auxiliary aids and services, written materials in alternative formats, and reasonable modifications in policies and procedures to people with disabilities. Summer Reading: Wingmasters, World of Owls (Valente)
This program shows how owls use their specialized powers of sight, hearing and flight to survive and thrive. A wealth of fact and folklore about these masters of the night explains the natural and unnatural history of owls. A variety of live North American owls provides the focus of this presentation. Recommended for children ages 6 and up and their caregivers. Space is limited, and we may not be able to accommodate late arrivals once the program begins. Thank you for understanding! Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Cambridge Police Safely Resolve Barricade Situation
A Cambridge man in his 40s, who had reportedly pulled a weapon on his health care worker and then barricaded himself inside his large, multi-unit Massachusetts Avenue residential building apartment, was safely taken into custody by officers and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation earlier this afternoon.
