The City of Cambridge announced that it will delay the City’s advancement to Step 2 of Phase III of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s Reopening Plan. The Cambridge Commissioner of Public Health has determined that allowing Step 2 of Phase III of the Reopening Plan to commence in the City of Cambridge on October 5, 2020 will likely contribute to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the city and presents a public health risk for the residents of the city and those of neighboring communities.

The Cambridge Police Department continues to closely monitor the ongoing Israel/Hamas conflict overseas including the cease-fire negotiations underway now. In our initial alert last month, we relayed how we have been working with our state and federal partners. Currently, there continue to be no specific or credible threats in our area. In recent weeks, CPD has received reports of hate crime incidents. The City of Cambridge and Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) will continue to offer free COVID-19 testing for Cambridge residents 4 days per week on with modified hours Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The site at 50 Church St. that previously offered testing will be discontinued beginning in June.

Starting on January 26, 2026, City Council, BZA and Planning Board meeting agendas, minutes, and video streaming will be available through this new portal. Other Boards and Commissions will follow at a date to be communicated later.

The City of Cambridge announced today that it will remain at Phase IV, Step 1 of the Commonwealth’s Reopening Plan and will not advance past Phase IV, Step 1 on May 10, 2021. The City reminds residents and visitors that masks may only be removed outside when 6 foot social distancing is possible.
