The City of Cambridge announced that it will delay the City’s advancement to Step 2 of Phase III of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s Reopening Plan. The Cambridge Commissioner of Public Health has determined that allowing Step 2 of Phase III of the Reopening Plan to commence in the City of Cambridge on October 5, 2020 will likely contribute to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the city and presents a public health risk for the residents of the city and those of neighboring communities.

The City of Cambridge today announced that due to the sustained improvement to the City’s COVID-19 metrics over the past month, Cambridge will lift its mask requirement for indoor public places effective at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022.

The Cambridge Police Department continues to closely monitor the ongoing Israel/Hamas conflict overseas including the cease-fire negotiations underway now. In recent weeks, CPD has received reports of hate crime incidents. The City of Cambridge and Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) will continue to offer free COVID-19 testing for Cambridge residents 4 days per week on with modified hours Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The site at 50 Church St. that previously offered testing will be discontinued beginning in June.
