October 21 to 22, 2023: Road Closures in Riverside and West Cambridge for Head of the Charles

Expect road closures and traffic in Riverside and West Cambridge between Friday, October 20, and Sunday, October 22, due to the Head of Charles Regatta.

Drivers should expect additional traffic and limited parking in the areas around Memorial Drive and Harvard Squares. The Regatta begins the morning of Friday, October 20, but roads will remain open until Saturday morning. 

From 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the following streets will close to vehicles:  

• Memorial Drive (between Western Avenue and the Cambridge Boat Club near Eliot Bridge)
• DeWolfe Street (between Mt. Auburn Street and Memorial Drive)
• Flagg Street (between Putnam Avenue and Memorial Drive)
• Ash Street (from Mt. Auburn Street to Memorial Drive)

Getting to the Regatta

Parking near the Head of the Charles Regatta is limited. Local public transportation options include:

• Bluebikes bike share stations
• MBTA Red Line Stations: Central Square and Harvard
• Mutliple MBTA Bus Routes
