NOTICE: The Veterans Services Department will be open to members of the public, by appointment only, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for various services. Please note that Veterans Life and Recreation Center workshops, public meetings, and networking events are not yet available. Appointments can be made by phone at 617-349-4760 or by email at, and will be scheduled in 30-60 minute increments. If you miss your appointment, you will need to reschedule. Veterans in crisis should call 911, the SAVE Team at 800-273-8253, or go to their nearest emergency department.

Patriots Day Observance on the Cambridge Common

The City of Cambridge’s Department of Veterans’ Services will hold their annual Patriot’s Day Observance on Monday, April 15, at 10 a.m., on the Cambridge Common. 
Philip Anderson, President, of the Cambridge Veterans' Organization will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Mayor Marc C. McGovern will extend the city’s greetings. Local historian Vincent Dixon will be the keynote speaker.

The event will be highlighted by a reenactment of Patriot William Dawes, Jr., historic horseback ride from Boston to Cambridge alerting the colonists of the British threat of 1775.  Patriot Dawes, dressed in colonial garb, will deliver the alert to Mayor McGovern.
