Annual Hose Testing - 2025

Annual hose testing started on August 3rd and is still in progress. Engine companies test all of their hose (as well as hose on spare apparatus) on a rotating schedule on weeknights and weekend days.
Hose is tested and inspected to NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards and is a factor in our Class 1 Fire Protection rating. Testing also ensures that hose will be reliable carrying high volumes of water under high pressures used for firefighting.

Photos from the evening of August 18th show Engine 5 testing their 4" supply hose to the standard 200 psi (pounds per square inch) pressure. The members of Engine 5 & Squad 3 (from the Inman Square Firehouse) worked together to get the job done, Group 1 on duty.

As always, the job is not completed until all hose is made up and ready for use, and the test results are recorded and documented.
