Summer Food Program

Human Service Programs

Join us for free food and fun every summer! The Cambridge Summer Food Program provides free, nutritious meals to Cambridge children every weekday at parks across the city. 

  • Open to all Cambridge residents ages 18 and under
  • Free meals at Cambridge parks Monday – Friday  
  • No identification required to get a meal
  • Vegetarian options at every location

Breakfast and lunch meals are served at park locations across Cambridge. Dinner meals are served at Cambridge Recreation's Summer Basketball and Street Hockey League locations (view details and map below).

Rain Locations

During rain or dangerous weather, meal sites at parks will be cancelled. Announcements will be made on DHSP and City Facebook pages: DHSP Facebook and City Facebook

  • Breakfast and lunch meals will be served at the Cambridge Senior Center (806 Massachusetts Ave.)
  • Fresh Pond Apartments (362 – 364 Rindge Ave.). 

Recreation Activities

The Summer Food Program partners with Cambridge Recreation and Cambridge Book Bike to encourage young people in Cambridge to keep their minds and bodies active in the summer!

  • After enjoying breakfast and lunch meals, Cambridge youth can join Recreation staff for games and activities at the parks.
  • Youth can also explore organized sports through the new Fun Under the Sun initiative. All ages and skill levels are invited to join Field Days, Kickball, soccer games, and other sports offered at a rotating park location on Mondays and Wednesdays in July.
  • Cambridge Book Bike visits a Summer Food site every week, inviting young people to enjoy story time and choose a free book to take take home.
  • The program provides free snacks at Screen on the Green Family Movie Nights.
