The Cambridge Summer Food Program provides free meals and fun to Cambridge children and youth. The 2023 Summer Food Program will begin on Monday, June 26. Monday through Friday, free breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals will be available at Summer Food locations across the city (see schedule below).
- Open to all Cambridge residents ages 18 and under
- No identification required to get a meal
- Vegetarian options available at every location
- Join Recreation staff for games and activities in the parks
- Cambridge Book Bike brings story time to a Summer Food site each week
Free dinner meals are served at DHSP Summer Basketball locations while leagues are in session. Cambridge children and youth do not need to participate in the leagues to receive a dinner meal. The program also provides free snacks to families who attend Screen on the Green Family Summer Movie nights and meals to eligible summer camps and community programs.
Scheduling Update
August 21 through September 1, the Summer Food Program will provide breakfast and lunch meals at the following 5 locations: Louis A. DePasquale Playground (Danehy Park, 66 Field St.), Sennott Park (305 Broadway), Fresh Pond Apartments (362–364 Rindge Avenue), Donnelly Field (61 Willow St.), and Gold Star Mother’s Park (123 Gore St). Weather impacts
In the event of rain or dangerous weather, summer food sites will be cancelled and meals will be provided at the War Memorial Recreation Center (1640 Cambridge St.). Note: on Wednesday, August 30, breakfast and lunch meals will be served at the Moses Youth Center (243 Harvard St.)
