Free Film Screenings From BeHeard.World Dance Company

BeHeard.World's films "Together--6 Feet Apart" and "Lenox Street" will be screened at Starlight Square on Sept. 9 at 7:15 p.m. and at Clement Morgan Park, 60 Columbia St., Sept. 16 at 7:15 p.m. The free screenings will be followed by facilitated discussions about the effects of racism in our communities: https://www.starlightsquare.org/events/beheardworld-films.

A FLOW grant and a Port Neighborhood Grant from Cambridge Arts have supported these projects.

"Lenox Street" follows "19 Roxbury teenagers as they participate in a summer arts workshop then perform around the city. The teens enter the program with 39 major school infractions between them; they end the schoolyear after the workshop with no infractions, higher confidence, and involvement in activities. Witness how creative expression opens young minds to new possibilities," the troupe writes.

In "Together — 6 Feet Apart," beheard artists bring a meditation on racial trauma throughout American history to a Franklin Field basketball court. "With a fusion of dance, poetry, and classical music, the piece celebrates the possibilities that arise from unity following isolation as an allegory for equity and restorative justice," the troupe writes.
