Join the Cambridge Public Library in welcoming Reginald Dwayne Betts—poet, lawyer, and Executive Director of the nonprofit Freedom Reads—for a lecture celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The program includes welcome remarks by Mayor E. Denise Simmons, Director of Libraries, Dr. Maria McCauley, and a performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing by soprano Pelaiah Auset accompanied on piano by Dan Pappas.
Reginald Dwayne Betts is the Founder and CEO of Freedom Reads. A poet and lawyer, he is the author of four books. A 2021 MacArthur Fellow, his latest collection of poetry, Felon, was awarded the American Book Award and an NAACP Image Award. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School.
