Join us for a solstice celebration with singers Leo Balkovetz and Laura Thomas! They will be performing medieval songs and chants that consist of a beautiful, unique interplay of vocal lines.

Leo Balkovetz (tenor) is a performer of operatic, choral and chamber music in the Boston area. He graduated with a Master of Music in Historical Voice Performance from the Longy School of Music where he sang the role of Vaguas in Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans with Early Music group Eudaimonia. He sang in the world premieres of You Reap What You Soul (Guy) and Bedbug (The Reporter) with Promenade Opera Project. As an oratorio soloist, Leo has performed across the state in Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Hasse’s Sanctus Petrus et Sancta Maria Magdalena. He is a member of the Cathedral St. Paul’s Schola Choir, Carduus and the Commonwealth Chorale.

Laura Thomas is a Boston-based soprano specializing in early and sacred music. Laura holds an M.M. in Historical Performance (Voice) from Boston University. She has performed extensively as a choral musician and oratorio soloist, performing with Providence-area collectives Ensemble Altera and Ensemble Laetare in addition to serving as a section leader for the Commonwealth Chorale of Newton, MA. She is a soprano choral scholar at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston.  She also performs medieval-influenced improvisatory music with electroacoustic ensemble Silica Gel, based in her native Birmingham, Alabama.
