Description
Make your voice heard! If you're a Cambridge resident 12 years of age or older, YOU can VOTE on how to spend $500,000 from the City's Capital Budget.
Background:
In December, the City launched the Participatory Budgeting (PB) initiative inviting the community to share ideas on projects to improve Cambridge. Over 40 volunteer Budget Delegates evaluated 380 ideas that were submitted and developed project proposals to meet community needs. From Mar. 22-28, we are inviting Cambridge residents age 12 or older to vote on which projects will get funded.
There will be about 20 projects on the ballot for capital improvements related to:
- Culture & Community Facilities
- Environment, Public Health & Public Safety
- Parks & Recreation
- Streets & Sidewalks
The City will allocate $500,000 in FY16 Capital Funds to the winning projects. Cambridge’s pilot PB project directly involves residents in the budgeting and city-building process, and helps ensure that the city’s Capital Plan reflects the priorities of Cambridge residents.
