Removal of Public Shade Trees
City of Cambridge, Department of Public Works

Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87, Sections 3 and 4, a public hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 17th, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. at the DPW Main Conference Room at 147 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, Mass., to consider the removal of the following public tree(s):

1. 730 Main Street – Removal of 3 trees (30” oak on Osborn Street, 28” oak on State Street, and 11.4” Norway maple on State Street) for private property development, and streetscape improvements. Locations will be replanted.

2. Vassar Street (between Mass Ave and Main Street) – Removal of 17 trees as part of a comprehensive tree well improvement and replanting plan for the block. All empty tree wells will be replanted as part of this project.
a. 32 Vassar Street - Removal of 7 trees (7” sweetgum, 9.7” sweetgum, 5.6” ginkgo, 4.1” ginkgo, 4.6” ginkgo, 3.4” ginkgo, and 5.1” ginkgo) 
b. 43 Vassar Street - Removal of 3 trees (5.5” ginkgo, 6.9” ginkgo, and 5.3” ginkgo)
c. 51 Vassar Street - Removal of 2 trees (5.5” ginkgo and 4.1” ginkgo)
d. 59 Vassar Street – Removal of 4 trees (3.3” ginkgo, 5.8” ginkgo, 3.6” ginkgo and 4.3” ginkgo)
e. 70 Vassar Street - Removal of 3.7” ginkgo
