Learn how to cut, engrave, and shape designs from a variety of materials using the Glowforge Pro laser cutter in this 2 part series. This series of workshops replaces the previous Glowforge 101 and Glowforge 201 offerings.
In part 1 of this course, you will utilize the camera for focusing and scanning your own custom images, properly select materials for your project, and fabricate your first design. In part 2, you will create digital artwork for the Glowforge, and learn file formatting for production.
Note: This is a badging course for laser cutting. Only those who sign up for part 1 of this series can participate in part 2 the following week. You will be badged at the end of the part 2 workshop, and are able to reserve the Glowforge Pro for use during designated times.

Blending art, design, science, technology and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects.

Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences. December's Read: A Master of Djinn - P. Djeli Clark
Reading Interests: The group concentrates on science fiction and fantasy. An advanced reading schedule is published each fall. Example selections include: Neuromancer by William Gibson and The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.
Requirements: A love of speculative fiction and a desire to talk about books. The group is friendly and informal.
How to get the print book: Copies of the print book are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during service hours and a staff member can help you check out a copy.
