      We invite children and their grown-ups to join us for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories, and rhymes. This program will be held in the backyard of the Collins Branch Library. In the event of inclement weather, the program will move indoors. Please call 617-349-4021 for more information.

      Put on your dancing shoes and head over for a morning of singing and dancing! For children of all ages and their grown-ups. This program will be held in the reading garden on the Berkshire Street side of the Valente Branch. In the event of inclement weather, this program will move indoors, where seating is limited.       In this workshop, you will learn about our makerspace, how to use our resources, and how to keep safe in The Hive. Registration is required. The Zoom link will be sent out an hour before the workshop starts. Before taking in-person workshops in The Hive, all makers must bring signed copies of The Hive User Agreement and Waivers.

    • STEAM Academy: Innovators for Purpose (Main)

      Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology, and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences. Made possible by generous support from the Eric and Jane Nord Family Fund and Verizon.

    • Graphics Are Great! Book Group (O'Connell/Virtual)

      Our monthly "Graphics Are Great!" book group is for kids aged 8-12. Check out a copy of the book beforehand, or download it from the Libby app. Our May book is El Deafo. This book group will meet virtually and in person at the O'Connell Branch. Please register below if you would like to attend virtually.       Please join residents and organizations in The Port and City of Cambridge on Tuesday, May 24 at 4:30 p.m. for a Peace Walk in The Port. The 0.8 mile walk will meet and begin at the Moses Youth Center at 243 Harvard Street and end with a BBQ and Richie’s Slush at the Pisani Center.
