    • Outdoor Story Time (Central Square)

      Join us for a half-hour of stories in the plaza outside the Central Square Branch Library, Franklin Street side, weather permitting. We will move indoors in inclement weather. For ages birth-5 with caregivers.

    • Outdoor Songs and Stories (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Music. Movement. Story. Join your librarians outside for 20 minutes of fun! Children of all ages and their grown-ups. This program will be held in Joan Lorentz Park on the lawn outside the Main Library. In the event of inclement weather, this program will be canceled. Please call 617-349-4038 for more information.

    • Outdoor Toddler Story Time (Valente)

      Valente Branch, 826 Cambridge St., Cambridge, MA 02141

      We invite children and their grown-ups to join us for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories and rhymes. This program will be held in the Reading Garden on the Berkshire Street side of the Valente Branch. In the event of inclement weather, this program will move indoors, where seating is limited.     • Equipment and Studio Reservations (Main)

      During this reservation period, anyone who has completed Hive training and is badged to use equipment or studio(s) can reserve Hive equipment or studio spaces. Staff will assist participants as they are able.

    • Summer Reading: Family Jigsaw Puzzles (O'Connell)

      We’ll work together on some jigsaw puzzles for people who like a challenge! For children ages 5 and up and their grownups.

    • Summer Reading: Literary Trivia Night (Valente)

      Come celebrate the end of Summer Reading with an evening of bookish team trivia! Make a team of up to six people or come on your own. Light snacks will be provided. Registration is required.

    • Glowforge 101: Creative Laser Cutting, Pt.2 (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Learn how to cut, engrave, and shape designs from a variety of materials using the Glowforge Pro laser cutter in this 2-day workshop. This series of workshops replaces the previous Glowforge 101 and Glowforge 201 offerings. In part 1 of this course, you will utilize the camera for focusing and scanning your own custom images, properly select materials for your project, and fabricate your first design. In part 2, you will create digital artwork for the Glowforge, and learn file formatting for production. Note: This is a badging course for laser cutting. Signing up for part 1 of this series registers you to participate in part 2 the next day. You will be badged at the end of the part 2 workshop, and are able to reserve the Glowforge Pro for use during designated times.
