    • Morning Market: The Work of Women an Exhibition by Lori Lander

      "Morning Market: The Work of Women," by Cambridge atist Lori Lander, is a celebration of women at work in daily markets across several continents. This exhibition of 12 oil paintings will be will be on display at the Main Library, from October 15 through November 15. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, October 20, from 4-6 p.m. in the Community Room. Lander will give a lecture on Monday, November 7, from 5-6 p.m., in the Lecture Hall.       Just for you and the baby! Enjoy time together with other parents, caregivers and babies to learn, play, and develop language and motor skills. Recommended for 0 to 12 months. Come prepared to sit on the floor one-on-one with your baby in your lap. This program can accommodate 15 babies and their caregivers. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. The entire party must be present to receive a ticket. This program starts promptly.     • Creative Aging: Visual Life History (Main)

      Main Library, Community Room, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Cambridge Public Library's Creative Aging series offers adults 55+ opportunities to learn new skills and to further develop the library as a center for lifelong learning. It will additionally provide participants a chance to make new connections with other community members. Learn the basics of life history interviewing and turn these into beautiful works of art to reflect the lives of our fellow community members using clay, journaling, collage and mixed media. The 8-week course will occur every Monday,10am - noon, starting October 17 through December 5. This will be an in-person program at the Main Library. Space is limited to 20 participants. Due to the popularity and to gain the most out of this program, we expect all participants to commit to all sessions in this 8-week course.       Join us for a 45-minute relaxing walk of Fresh Pond with Park Ranger Tim Puopolo! No two weeks are the same in nature, and Tim will share his insights about what's growing, changing, and blooming in the neighborhood. The walk will meet in the courtyard of the Collins Branch (64 Aberdeen Ave.) and leave together towards the pond at 10:15am.       Basic Computer Classes for Beginners Do you want to learn typing and mouse skills? Do you want to learn how to set up an email account? Do you want to learn how to do online job search? Do you want to learn word processing, online browsing, maps? Learn all this, and more in our free Tech Goes Home classes. When: Mondays, 10:30am - 12pm, October 3 - December 12, 2022 (no class October 10) Meeting dates: October 3, 17, 24, 31, November 7, 14, 21, 28, December 5, 12 Program Commitment: 15 hours. Participants must register and commit to attending all sessions. After completion of the program, participants have the option of receiving a free Chromebook and internet access for one year.

      Would you like to make your own vinyl signs, stickers, or images to transfer to T-shirts and other textiles? In this workshop, you can learn how to use our Roland Camm-1 GS-24 vinyl cutter. You can then design a sticker and cut it with our vinyl cutter! Registration is required. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.
