"Morning Market: The Work of Women," by Cambridge atist Lori Lander, is a celebration of women at work in daily markets across several continents. This exhibition of 12 oil paintings will be will be on display at the Main Library, from October 15 through November 15.
The opening reception will take place on Thursday, October 20, from 4-6 p.m. in the Community Room. Lander will give a lecture on Monday, November 7, from 5-6 p.m., in the Lecture Hall. Would you like to learn to make your own vest with hi-visibility designs? In this workshop, you can learn to sew a vest with or without buttons and to add hand-cut reflective designs. Your customized vest will be eye-catching during the day and light-reflective when walking or biking at night.
This is an intermediate level workshop. Previous sewing experience recommended as this workshop will not cover basic sewing. Registration is required.
Please note: This workshop does not fulfill the requirements of Sewing 101. Completion of Sewing 101 is required to book sewing machines in The Hive for independent use during Equipment & Studio Reservations.

Children and their caregivers are invited to join us for a very special Saturday afternoon story time at the Valente Branch Library, where we will share (slightly) spooky stories. Costumes are encouraged but not required!
This program will be held in the reading garden on the Berkshire Street side of the Valente Branch Library. In the event of inclement weather, this program will move indoors to the Community Room, where seating is limited. Please call (617) 349-4015 for more information.
