    • [CLASS FULL] Wellness for Seniors: Tai Chi Paradigm (Main)

      Sponsored by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation Join us in this six-week Tai Chi practice, which focuses on the mind and body connection. Tai Chi is a fluid sequence of movements choreographed in a low impact routine. Sifu Mynor Diaz has been learning and teaching Tai Chi classes for over 20 years. He has taught classes at five VA Boston Healthcare System locations and at Senior Centers. Due to the popularity of this series we expect partipants to all the classes. This is an in-person event.

      Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology, and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences.       Art In Public is a documentary film illustrating the benefits and necessity of public art in communities through the artists who make it happen in the City of Cambridge. Through artist interviews, the documentary examines the creative processes, public places, and community involvement. It also includes many forms of art, such as murals, performances, sculptures, and installation arts. This film was directed by Weiying Olivia Huang.

The Hive at Cambridge Public Library and Cambridge Community Television are teaming up for this two-session workshop where you'll get a crash course on the basics of Podcasting! In the first session, held at the Hive, you'll get a technical overview of their podcasting equipment, exposure to editing tools, and time to brainstorm your podcasting idea. In the second session, held at Cambridge Community Television, you'll dive into the content of your podcast.     • Sacred Songs and Rituals: Ladino Music with Sarah Aroeste

      Join Sarah Aroeste, an international Ladino singer/songwriter, author and speaker, as she brings you along on a musical journey highlighting the Sephardic experience from past to present. Enjoy an interactive, mixed-media program that integrates music, storytelling, and the sacred sounds of this rich, oral tradition that has survived shifting centuries and borders to still inspire us today. This event is supported by the Friends of the Cambridge Public Library. --- Inspired by her family’s roots in N. Macedonia and Greece, Sarah Aroeste is determined to bring Sephardic culture to new generations. Since 2001, Aroeste has toured the globe presenting traditional and original Ladino songs with her unique blend of Balkan sounds, pop, and jazz. Sarah is currently co-directing her newest initiative, Savor: A Sephardic Music & Food Experience, which unites Sephardic song and cuisine in multi-sensory platforms. In addition to composing songs, Sarah has published numerous articles and essays about Sephardic cultural preservation and writes Sephardic themed books for children, including Buen Shabat, Shabbat Shalom (Kar-Ben 2020), and the forthcoming Mazal Bueno (Kar-Ben 2023).
