      Would you like to make your own vinyl signs, stickers, or images to transfer to T-shirts and other textiles? In this workshop, you can learn how to use our Roland Camm-1 GS-24 vinyl cutter. You can then design a sticker and cut it with our vinyl cutter! Registration is required. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.     • Glowforge 101: Creative Laser Cutting (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Learn how to cut, engrave, and shape designs from a variety of materials using the Glowforge Pro laser cutter in this workshop. This two-hour workshop replaces the previous two-part Glowforge 101 offering; the content and length of this workshop and the two-part series are the same. You will start by utilizing the camera on the Glowforge to focus and scan your own custom images, properly select materials for your project, and fabricate your first design. You will create digital artwork for the Glowforge, and learn file formatting for production. Note: This is a badging course for laser cutting.       Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology, and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. Teens are invited to learn more and apply on the iFp website: Innovators for Purpose. Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences.       Continue building your machine-sewing skills AND create bespoke sewn crafts! Design your own fiber arts adventure under as you make dinner napkins, high-visability patches for being seen at night, and customized wearable Hivemade creations. This four-part series is led by fiber artist and designer Lenni Armstrong. Skills practiced include: identifying and straightening a fabric's grain, straight stitching, making hems and more. Registration is required. Those registered for the first session will automatically be enrolled in the following weeks. Spots are very limited; kindly only enroll if you plan to make all four workshops.     • Cambridge Cooks: Pate a Choux with Chef Anthony Haley (Main)

      Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Cambridge Cooks invites local chefs to the Library for a free cooking demonstration, followed by a tasting and Q&A with the chefs. Pate a Choux, or choux pastry, are a delicate pastry dough that serves as the basis for treats such as eclairs and cream puffs. Chef Anthony will teach techniques to make these versatile treats. About the chef: Chef Anthony Haley is a Boston native who obtained his Associates degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University – Providence in 2008. He went on to earn his Bachelors in Culinary Nutrition in 2010. After working in Research and Development for Heinz North America in Pittsburgh, PA, Anthony returned home to Boston. He spent many years working for Legal Seafoods, primarily training and opening new locations. In 2015, Chef Anthony opened Antonio’s Bacaro, a Venetian wine bar and restaurant in Hyde Park, where he was the Executive Chef. Anthony competed on the hit show “Blind Kitchen” in 2022 and has appeared on CBS Boston for several cooking segments. Chef Anthony is now teaching Professional and Recreational Classes at Cambridge School of Culinary Arts.
