Information on COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Program through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

If you paid for funeral costs for someone who died from COVID-19 after January 20, 2020, FEMA’s Funeral Assistance Program may be able to help by providing up to $9,000 for expenses. The program will cover many types of costs, including:

  • The use of a funeral home equipment or staff
  • Clergy or officiant services
  • Cremation or burial costs
  • The transfer of remains or transportation to identify a deceased individual

To apply, call the FEMA helpline. There is no online application. Help is available in several languages.
