DHSP's Childcare Afterschool programs are designed to build children’s social skills and enhance their school-day learning. Children engage in developmentally appropriate project-based learning curriculum, both individually and in groups. All Childcare Afterschool programs are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

Fletcher-Maynard Academy (225 Windsor St.), 1 Junior Kindergarten – 3rd grade classroom
Martin Luther King, Jr. School (102 Putnam Ave.), 2 age-appropriate classrooms for children in Junior Kindergarten - 5th grade
Morse School (40 Granite St.), 2 age-appropriate classrooms for children in Junior Kindergarten – 5th grade
Peabody School (70 Rindge Ave.), 2 age-appropriate classrooms for children in Junior Kindergarten - 5th grade
Enrollment:
Enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year is full. We will not be adding any additional names to the waitlist because we have enough children on the current list to fill all openings through the 2022-2023 school year. For the 2023-2024 school year, DHSP Childcare Afterschool Programs will be moving to a lottery system.
Apply to the 2023-2024 Childcare Afterschool Programs Lottery May 1 - 26. Families will use the same application to apply to Childcare Afterschool programs, Community Schools afterschool programs, and Youth Center / Cambridge Youth Programs Pre-Teen / Middle School afterschool programs. Tuition:
Tuition is based on a sliding fee scale according to total gross family income and family size. A family’s tuition rate is determined by their income verification documents and shared with a family when they are being offered a seat.
Tuition Assistance:
You do not need to fill out any additional paperwork to request tuition assistance! We use the documents you submit in your application to verify income and calculate tuition rates, including tuition assistance. We accept DTA and Department of Early Care and Education Vouchers.

No. You can choose any of our 4 locations (Fletcher- Maynard, Martin Luther King, Morse, and Peabody) based on your personal preference. Please keep in mind that Cambridge Public Schools Department (CPSD) only provides transportation for children traveling over a mile away from their school. If you are selecting programs that aren’t located in the same building that your child attends during the school day, you should confirm with CPSD Transporation at 617-349-6862 that the program is over a mile away before selecting the program.
In addition to the Childcare Afterschool Program, DHSP runs the Community Schools Afterschool Program, King Open Extended Day Program, and Cambridge Youth Programs.
