Cambridge Police

Cambridge residents can be fingerprinted for gun permits, employment and security clearances.

How to Start

The Cambridge Police Department offers general fingerprint services for City of Cambridge residents only. Fingerprints are sometimes required when applying for certain jobs and volunteering opportunities, passport applications, internships, or government related endeavors. Applicants must provide proof of Cambridge residency and acceptable forms of identification at the time of service request.


Requirements:

  • Proof of Cambridge residency include recent utility bill, lease agreement, etc., listing applicant’s name.  
  • Must provide valid photo ID such as driver's license, State ID, student ID, Passport, military ID.
  • Please note: Fees are $15 per fingerprint card (Cash, Money Order, or Check only). Credit/Debit Cards are not accepted.

Fingerprinting for Immigration and naturalization purposes is not provided by the Cambridge Police Department. Please refer to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration website for more information.

Hours: 

Appointments can be made online. Fingerprint services are available Mondays between 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m., Tuesdays-Thursdays between the hours of 2-4 p.m. by appointment only.  For questions or further assistance, please call 617-349-3347 or e-mail.

  • Must provide proof of residency (any mail or bill statement with name and address in Cambridge)
