Cambridge Supports Meet Your Neighbor Days Events

Meet Your Neighbor Day

The City of Cambridge is looking forward to supporting its upcoming Meet Your Neighbor Days initiative, which will take place between September 20-September 28.

Convened by the Cambridge Peace Commission and co-sponsored by the Committee on Civic Unity, the program is aimed at building connections and community throughout Cambridge. Studies have proven that connected neighborhoods are healthier, happier, safer, and more resilient when faced with challenges.

As part of the initiative, the City is encouraging residents to introduce themselves and engage with their neighbors. Residents can submit their events to the online Meet Your Neighbors Day map. Hosts are only limited by their imagination!

Below are examples of possible hosting ideas:

Fun Events:

• Neighborhood party
• Welcome new neighbors
• Yard sale
• Outdoor movie screening
• Arts and crafts festival
• Share resources (for example, extra produce from garden, tool sharing)
• Assemble "Party Buckets" with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, etc.
• Provide a basket of kids' books with a neighborhood theme
• Kids performance or play

Games/Ice Breaker Activities:

• Charades
• Board games
• Dominoes
• Other games with themes of unity

Food and Drink:

• Potluck
• Barbecue
• Dessert party/ice cream social
• Picnic
• Pizza party
• Lemonade stand
• Cookie exchange

Neighborhood Projects:

• Neighborhood service project
• Neighborhood walking tour
• Make a photo scrapbook or video of your neighborhood

Plan events of any size between September 20 and 28.
