The City of Cambridge welcomes residents and visitors of all ages to celebrate fun filled Danehy Park Family Day on Saturday, September 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This annual event offers free entertainment, activities, rides, food, and giveaways -- making it an ideal weekend outing for families.
Located at 99 Sherman Street in North Cambridge, Danehy Park is a 55 acre recreational space. The event provides something for everyone—from amusement rides to hands on arts and crafts, live performances, and delicious snacks.
In the event of bad weather, the rain date for Danehy Park Family Day will be Saturday, September 26.
Event Highlights
Families can look forward to:
- Children’s amusement rides, including a trackless train and six other rides.
- Arts & crafts and a wide variety of activities for all ages.
- Live entertainment featuring DJ Special K, aerialists, and an acrobatic duo.
- Free food and giveaways (while supplies last).
Getting There
To make travel easy and accessible for families across Cambridge, free shuttle buses will run throughout the City, offering direct transportation to and from Danehy Park.
The Park is also accessible by public transit:
- MBTA #74 or #78 buses from Harvard Square
- MBTA #83 bus from Central Square
- Shuttle service from Alewife Station
Shuttle buses begin running at 10:15 a.m., with multiple neighborhood pick up points across Routes 1–4. Return shuttles begin at 1 p.m., departing hourly. The last shuttles will leave Danehy Park at 4 p.m.
