Working Fire Box 45-627

 

In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 17, 2026, a working fire was ordered, box 45-627, for the 2 story, brick & wood, multi-residential bldg at 2 Forest St.
Arriving companies quickly established water supplies & started attack lines while simultaneously evacuating residents, completing searches, ventilating & overhauling. Engine 1 rapidly stretched the initial attack line to knock down the fire in the basement.

 

Initial time: 222 a.m.
Working fire: 240 a.m.
All out: 415 a.m.

 

No injuries were reported by residents, although several were displaced by the fire. All displaced were rehoused by American Red Cross of Massachusetts.
Thank you to the staff of The Abbey, Cambridge who opened up and provided warm shelter on this very cold night for the displaced residents, pending arrival of the Red Cross.
The cause will be under investigation.
Engines 1, 8, 5 & 4: Ladders 4, 1, & 2; Squads 4 & 3; Rescue 1; and Divisions 2 & 1 worked at the fire.
Group 3 was on duty.
