New Lane Assignments on Vassar Street at Main Street

Beginning next week (week of October 19th), drivers traveling northbound on Vassar Street must turn right onto Main Street from the right lane or continue north onto Galileo Galilei Way from the left lane. Turning left onto Main Street from Vassar Street will be prohibited. New “no left turn” signs and lane assignment pavement marking arrows will be installed to reinforce the new travel patterns.

The new lane assignments and the left turn prohibition are being installed as part of the 2026 Main Street Safety Improvement Project and the Intersection Safety Program. Along with changes to the traffic signal, these changes improve safety by eliminating conflicts between crossing pedestrians and cyclists and drivers turning from Vassar Street. To learn more about the design and community process for this intersection, visit the Main Street SIP webpage.
