The Capital Network Workshop Series

Calling in all Cambridge entrepreneurs! You are encouraged to enroll in a free workshop series facilitated by The Capital Network. You can enroll in all three or just one session. These online workshops will focus on business planning, financials, and storytelling.

The Capital Network workshops will be held via Zoom and are free of Cambridge residents and business owners. Registration is required. 

Own Your Business: Using Lean Canvas to Evaluate Your Business  

Date: Wednesday, March 15, 2023

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Description: Participants will be introduced the Lean Canvas tool, a consolidated business plan that visually maps out the key elements of the entire business on one single page that is easy to work on, update and share at any stage of the business. Business founders will work on their Lean Canvas and get real time feedback from the instructors. Whether the founders are testing their new ideas, pivoting, refocusing, they will walk away with: 

  • Their own Lean Canvas Business Plan with feedback specific to their business.
  • A clearer understanding of where their business is at and strategy for next steps.

Own Your Numbers: Creating Financial Projections

Date: Wednesday, March 29, 2023

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Description: It's crucial for business founders to have a good understanding of their financials and be able to tell an enticing story of their business to get funders and partners onboard. This workshop will provide instructions and tools to help founders iron out their financial projections and learn the key metrics that will get investors excited about their growth strategy and vision. They will walk away with:

  • A Financial Model Tool they can use to build their own Financial Projections.
  • A clearer understanding of basic accounting concepts for Financial Projections & what these mean to investors.

Own Your Business: How to Tell a Compelling Story of Your Business

Date: Wednesday, April 12, 2023

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Description: Launching and building a startup is not just building a product and business, it’s also about how to tell the company’s story to get mission-aligned partners, clients, employees and investors. This workshop will help business founders turn their idea, product and business into a compelling story that will really resonate with their target audience, and ultimately convert business goals into successful deals. They will walk away with:

  • A Pitch Deck workbook to map out their own business story A clearer understanding of how to format and present a 10-page Pitch Deck & what investors are looking for.
