Location: To be determined based on need and impact
Cost: $250,000
Committee: Facilities, Parks, and Recreation
Short Description: Cambridge’s basketball courts are heavily used by the community, which leads to wear and tears. Funding will support upgrades for courts across the city, keeping courts safe, in good condition, and accessible for all ages to play.
Long Description: We are seeking funding to support a coordinated series of improvements across multiple neighborhoods. Cambridge’s basketball courts are some of the most heavily used public amenities, yet many suffer from wear, uneven surfaces, damaged equipment, and delayed repairs. Increased funding will ensure regular, proactive maintenance that keeps these spaces safe, accessible, and enjoyable for residents of all ages. Broken rims, snapped nets, and uneven rims and courts will be put in the past through this additional funding. Well-maintained courts support community health, youth programming, and neighborhood vitality, and they prevent small issues from becoming costly capital repairs later.
Increased funding will extend the life of Cambridge’s recreational infrastructure and ensure that parks remain safe, welcoming, and well-used by the entire community.
