Location: Citywide for three years.
Cost: $60,000
Short Description: Provide warm and water-proof gear to help our unhoused community members stay safe during cold and wet weather. Gear could include thermal clothes, raincoats, weather-proof sleeping bags, and sturdy boots.
Long Description: Unhoused residents face extreme health risks during cold, rainy, and winter months. Many lack access to warm clothing or dry sleeping materials, leaving them vulnerable to the elements. This proposal would fund the creation and distribution of “Cold & Wet Weather Kits”. Each kit would include essential items such as: thermal base layers, waterproof raincoats, weather-proof sleeping bags, warm socks, and insulated boots. This kit could be distributed through shelters, outreach teams, and community organizations that work directly with folks living outdoors and could be delivered as individual items depending on need.
