Location: DPW for three years.
Cost: $15,000
Committee: Environment
Short Description: It's annoying to buy a rake you’ll use for only once a year! This program would fund trash grabbers, shovels rakes, and more that can be borrowed from DPW to give you the tools to keep Cambridge’s neighborhoods clean.
Long Description: This program would empower residents to clean up Cambridge’s neighborhoods, public spaces, and streets using city-provided tools. Cambridge will provide materials such as shovels, rakes, gloves, trash grabbers, and trash bags to residents who can pick up trash and remove weeds from their neighborhood. Residents can also use tools to give back to their community, cleaning up Cambridge’s public parks and playgrounds.
The goal of this project is to encourage citizens to help keep Cambridge clean and support community building. By providing people with the tools to clean up storm drains or pick up trash in hidden corners, residents will be able to quickly address problem areas.
The program would also allow residents to free up limited personal storage space, requesting items from the city only when they are needed, rather than collecting dust in their closet.
