The City of Cambridge launched the 9th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB9) in 2022. Between June and July, community members submitted 1,320 ideas for how to spend $1 million on one-time capital projects to improve Cambridge. From August through November, volunteer PB Delegates researched all submitted project ideas and developed the final proposals for the PB9 vote.

This month’s book is Ra the Mighty Cat Detective by Amy Butler Greenfield. Can a lazy cat and a dung-obsessed beetle really crack a mystery? Ra relishes his role as the Pharaoh's beloved—and spoiled—cat. So when an amulet goes missing from the palace, Ra plans to keep enjoying his snacks and nap in the sun. But Ra's friend Khepri, a wise and industrious scarab beetle, insists on investigating in order to save the young servant girl who has been framed for the crime. Both caregiver and child should read the book before the meeting, copies are available behind the Children’s Desk. Registration is required — only one registration is needed per family. As City of Cambridge buildings, departments, and services plan for a safe and limited reopening to the public, the City has created a new page with the most up-to-date information about each department and how to get in touch with them.

Join us for an in-person community meeting to discuss the future of the 25 Lowell Street property. Representatives from the Capital Building Projects Department and the City Manager’s Office will share information about the project and the anticipated project schedule. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more from the project team and ask questions.

This will be a virtual public meeting to share information about the project; review the sites that we are planning for; and receive community input and ideas on future uses for these properties. We will cover similar content to our prior in-person meeting, but in an online friendly format. Central Square City Lots Study: The City of Cambridge Community Development Department (CDD), in collaboration with other city departments and the Cambridge community, is leading a municipal property needs assessment and planning study for city-owned properties in Central Square.
