The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout Memorial Day weekend due to two significant events on May 23-25, 2025.
Baker-Polito Administration Initiates Transition to First Phase of Four-Phase Approach
The Baker-Polito Administration released Reopening Massachusetts, the Reopening Advisory Board’s report, which details a four-phased strategy to responsibly reopen businesses and activities while continuing to fight COVID-19. The Administration also released a new “Safer At Home” Advisory, which instructs residents to stay at home unless engaging with newly opened activities, as a way to continue limiting the spread of COVID-19.
Narcan Distribution Event December 9
The Cambridge Public Health Department will be handing out free Narcan, test strips, CPR face shields, and other harm reduction materials at the Central Square Branch of the Cambridge Public Library on Dec. 9 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Green Jobs Career Fair

Dominic Killiany at Universal Design Playground
Climbing one of the play structures or otherwise exploring the Louis A. DePasquale Universal Design Playground at Danehy Park, you’ll spot pictures by Dominic Killiany, a prolific 24-year-old artist living with autism. Panels throughout the park reproduce his brightly colored paintings of Boston’s Zakim Bridge, street signs, fish, a lion, zebra, elephant and giraffes.
Mental Health First Aid (Main)
Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training that teaches people how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge in adults ages 18 and over. The program is designed to build mental health literacy, providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental health or substance use challenge. This workshop will cover:
Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges
Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges
How to interact with a person in crisis
How to connect a person with help
Expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care
Registration is required.
Aging With Wisdom: an illustrated talk with Olivia Hoblitzelle (Main)
Olivia Hoblitzelle will be speaking about her book Aging with Wisdom, along with an illustrated slideshow that weaves in themes such as seeing beauty in old age, the role of her spiritual practice, inspiring elders, and awakened consciousness. A question and answer period will follow.
