Governor Charlie Baker joined Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy and Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders to sign an Executive Order terminating the Commonwealth’s State of Emergency effective June 15, 2021. The Order also rescinds most COVID-19 restrictions, including limitations placed on businesses, as of tomorrow, May 29 as Massachusetts nears the goal of vaccinating four million residents. This week, the Commonwealth passed the 3.5 million mark for fully vaccinated residents.

The City of Cambridge today amended its emergency order requiring that face masks or coverings be worn in indoor public places to include common areas of residential buildings with at least four units as well as common areas of office and laboratory buildings. The order applies to everyone over the age of two years old, with exceptions in alignment with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines. This amended order takes effect on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 12:01 a.m.

The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout the weekend due to scheduled community events on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1. The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, 2025, due to scheduled community events including the VIVA CENTRAL Block Party, the CEOC 60th Anniversary Celebration, and the 40th Annual Harvard Square MayFair.

The City of Cambridge hosted two events this month to showcase the positive impact of federal grants such as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Grant (HOME) to our community. Community development activities build stronger and more resilient communities. CDBG funds can be directed toward affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and public services that primarily serve low and moderate income residents.

The City of Cambridge is canceling all City-sponsored Halloween events and will not be issuing street closure, block party, or park permits this year for community events in order to help prevent large groups from congregating in close proximity.
