Beginning Spring 2019 and lasting for approximately 12 months, several improvements will be taking place at the Taylor Square Fire Station. Work will be taking place on the interior and exterior of the building. See below for project updates, timeline and additional info.

Community Preservation Act
The Community Preservation Act (CPA) helps cities and towns preserve the character of their community. A 3% CPA surcharge is included with Property Tax bills to fund affordable housing, open space, and historic preservation projects.
Community Preservation Act Public Meeting Minutes July 19 2018
Lisa Peterson, Deputy City Manager, and Chair of the Community Preservation Act Committee (CPAC) opened the meeting. She explained that eligible projects must fall into one of three categories: historic preservation, open space, and affordable housing.

The Community Planning & Design Division activities encompass planning and urban design, institutional planning, neighborhood planning, zoning and development review (including staffing the Planning Board) demographic and geographic analysis, development of parks and open space, and graphic design.

Study of key issues in the Alewife Area, including the mix of uses, including housing, industry, possible City uses, open space, access and traffic, the character of future development, and needed zoning changes to accomplish study goals.
