In this mixed-media art lesson you'll craft a charming snowy landscape featuring a glowing paper house nestled among wooly trees. A perfect display during those cold, dark months of winter. All supplies will be provided.

The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) would like to alert the community of a phone scam that involves someone calling the public impersonating Cambridge Police. The caller claims they are a Cambridge Police Captain, which is not a rank at CPD, and advises the person on the phone they missed jury duty and could go to jail if they don’t pay a large sum of money.

The Walden Square Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) Project is located in the vicinity of 99 Sherman Street. The City has designated this area for redesign to help reduce the amount of storm water that goes into the city drainage system in order to prevent flooding during heavy rain events. The I&I project at Walden Square encompasses three parcels of land with the first parcel being the surface parking lot at Danehy Park, the second being the roadway at Sherman Street, and the third being the surface lot at the Walden Square Apartments.

Kim Eierman will help you sort out the mysteries and complexities of native plant selection including: Am I buying a genetic clone, and does it matter? What are local ecotypes and where can I buy them? Are native cultivars ok? Are dwarf nativars ecologically-useful? What’s the tradeoff with double flowers? Which native plants require pollination partners (i.e. are dioecious) and how do I source them? What are the pros and cons of planting native seeds vs. live plants? Get the answers you need to make your native landscape both beautiful and eco-beneficial. This is event is cosponsored by the Cambridge Public Library. Kim Eierman is the Founder of EcoBeneficial LLC and author of The Pollinator Victory Garden: Win the War on Pollinator Decline with Ecological Gardening. She is an ecological landscape designer and environmental horticulturist specializing in native plants. The City of Cambridge is proud to announce the release of the Cemetery Master Plan, a comprehensive vision designed to extend the active operations of the Cambridge Cemetery while transforming it into a landscape and cultural resource with broad community appeal. Developed collaboratively by the Cambridge Cemetery and Department of Public Works staff, along with the Cambridge Cemetery Advisory Board, this plan represents the collective input of Cambridge residents, including former City officials, pastors, funeral home directors, and other community representatives. The Cemetery Master Plan outlines a series of strategic recommendations organized under three key goals and guiding principles.

In honor of Women’s History Month, this collage workshop invites participants to explore collage as a practice rooted in storytelling, care, and reclamation. Together, we will look at how women and femmes have historically used cutting, layering, assemblage, and repair as forms of documentation and self expression, often working outside traditional art spaces and definitions of what is understood to be "fine art.” Participants will create collages using photographs, found papers, textiles, and personal ephemera, reflecting on lineage, memory, and the quiet labor of the women that shapes our lives. No prior collage experience is necessary. This workshop is designed as a welcoming, reflective space where participants are encouraged to work intuitively, honor their own histories, and engage with material in a tactile, intentional way. All are welcome. Registration is required.

In honor of Black History Month, join Opera on Tap Boston for Shakespeare of Harlem, a concert celebrating the life, work, and enduring influence of Langston Hughes. The program weaves Hughes’ poetry and prose with art songs by composers such as Margaret Bonds and Florence Price, alongside the voices of his contemporaries, including Georgia Douglas Johnson and Countee Cullen. An ensemble of celebrated local actor-singers brings the text and music to life, illuminating the ideas, experiences, and cultural moments that shaped Hughes as a writer. The performance will be followed by a talkback, offering audiences a chance to discuss with the artists and the material in conversation.
