The City of Cambridge announced today the appointment of 23 members to a new City Manager’s Construction Advisory Group. Representing public health, building trade unions, inspectional and public works officials, contractors, development project managers, and universities, the Advisory Group will provide advice on drafting best practices that the City can incorporate into a safe construction reopening plan.

JAS is hosting a community meeting on April 16, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. to provide updates on the proposed development at 37 Brookline Street as 100% affordable housing. The Danehy Improvement Plan project is a collaboration between the Department of Public Works, the Department of Human Service Programs Recreation Division, and the Community Development Department. The goal is to develop a shared vision of the future of Danehy Park that reflects the community’s needs and values. The final report will provide a roadmap that guides future park improvements for the next 10-15 years.

Please join the Central Square Rezoning Project team for our final community meeting regarding potential updates to the zoning for Central Square. This meeting will begin with a presentation by City staff focusing on what we've heard thus far and how that has informed the preliminary zoning recommendations. It will be followed by a robust public discussion where community members can share their feedback and input.

The CHA is starting the zoning and permitting process for the Modernization of Corcoran Park under the City’s new Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO). This process follows a series of resident meetings, door knocking at Corcoran Park and abutting properties, phone and text outreach to Corcoran Park residents, and August poster sessions open to the neighborhood. Cambridge is the first city in Massachusetts to invest in a local solar project using contributions from its electricity aggregation program. A 540-panel installation added to Graham & Parks School in September was paid for and is collectively owned by the 41,000 customers of Cambridge Community Electricity (CCE) aggregation program.

Cambridge families and young people are invited to join the Cambridge STEAM Initiative, Cambridge Public Schools (CPS), and The Young People’s Project (YPP) at the Math Playground event — an exciting day of family fun that builds math literacy for all ages! The day will include a range of activities that showcase the joy, fun, and wonder in math experiences for young people and families.

We're excited to host our first community meeting for the Mass Ave Planning Study (MAPS) on Thursday, February 29 from 6 PM - 7:30 PM. The meeting will provide an introduction to the project; an opportunity for the community to learn more about the process; and a chance to talk with the planning team about Mass Ave! This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom.

Residents and community members can organize an event anytime between September 14 and 22, though Sunday, September 15 is the official event day. We are hoping community members will plan events (e.g. cookout, block party, service project, etc.) that can bring together neighbors — in a way that works for them!
