The next intensive construction phase for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s (MassDOT) upcoming Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Replacement Project is scheduled to take place between July 26-August 11, 2018. As a result, Cambridge residents will also potentially be affected – to varying degrees -- by these service impacts. Pedestrians and bicyclists will have bridge access throughout construction, with some detours.

The City of Cambridge is moving forward with safety upgrades on Main Street, building on the foundation laid by community outreach efforts in 2023 through the Main Street Safety Improvement Project. These changes aim to enhance safety and accessibility for all road users by installing separated bike lanes, improving pedestrian crossings, and introducing measures to slow vehicle speeds.

The City’s Cycling Safety Ordinance calls for the City to build out a 25-mile network of separated bike lanes in the next five years. Separated bike lanes, which generally include space and vertical dividers that create a physical distance between bicycles and motor vehicles, improve safety and create a more comfortable environment.

Just A Start is proud to announce an affordable housing lottery for 14 new one and two-bedroom apartments in Cambridge at the Rindge Commons North project. An additional 8 units will be leased by the Cambridge Housing Authority waitlist, and 2 Community Based Housing (CBH) units will be leased by the Massachusetts Rehab Commission waitlist.

The Affordable Housing Trust's April meeting is cancelled. The next CAHT meeting is currently scheduled for May 22nd at 4 p.m via Zoom and in the Ackermann Room. It's creepy crawly week at the Library! Families with elementary school-age children join us for hands-on activities focused on Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering and Math. Adults and children will learn and play together! In March we will be joined by author and illustrator Lindsey Leigh to learn about drawing and cartooning animals!
